BLOOM Paleis Het Loo The exhibition BLOOM takes you into the world of flowers, from 17th-century still life paintings and Princess Mary’s influence on the use of flowers to artwork from contemporary artists, designers and the palace’s team of gardeners bring this history to life as well. For centuries flowers have brought beauty, fragrance and context to Palace Het Loo, but what makes flowers so attractive? BLOOM takes you through time and stimulates all your senses. It also is thought provoking with critical questions such as how did these flowers come to be here? Who paid the price for all this wealth and beauty? And what is the future of flowers? There’s a story behind each flower and every artwork. My artwork ‘Daisies – the National Flower of the Netherlands’ is part of the exhibition as well. This piece presents the Dutch national flower in her full glory, from buds to flowers to fruit. You can also find other important plants scattered among more than 300 daisies, and bird feathers, a reverence to our national bird the black-tailed godwit. More about the underlying story behind this artwork in a next post. When: as of April 20th Where: Paleis Het Loo Open: Tuesday - Sunday; 10:00 - 17:00h. More information on the website of the museum HERE. |
Daisy the National Flower of the Netherlands The daisy was elected the national flower of the Netherlands and it was a privilege to paint this special plant and exhibit the finished artwork at Teylers Museum in March 2024. The election was an initiative of radio and television program Vroege Vogels BNNVARA. On Sunday 24th Vroege Vogels presented a special program live from Teylers Museum. You can still listen to the interview in Dutch HERE. | Title: Madeliefje – Nationale Bloem van Nederland Latin name: Bellis perennis Medium: Watercolour on paper Framed size: 60x80 cm |
'Hyacintorchis'
‘Hyacintorchis’.
