'200 soorten groen' -  Botanical Art by Franz and Ferdinand Bauer

02 February - 12 May 2019
Teylers Museum in Haarlem, the Netherlands, is organizing an unique exhibition on botanical illustrators Franz and Ferdinand Bauer. The illustrations and paintings by both brothers are of extraordinary quality. Born in 1758/1760 resp. in Feldsberg Lower Austria, now Valtice in the Czech Republic, the Bauer brothers became accomplished illustrators with Franz employed by Sir Joseph Banks at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, and Ferdinand travelling among others on Matthew Flinders' expedition to Australia. Exceptionally, Natural history museums in Vienna and London as the Bodleian Libraries in Oxford will lend exquisite and vulnerable artworks from their collections to Teylers Museum to be part of the exhibition. For more information on the exhibition at Teylers Museum please click here.

Accompanying the exhibition, a series of interesting lectures and talks will also be organized. I am honoured to be part of this series and will give a demonstration on 3 april 2019. For more information on the program, speakers and to buys tickets
